Sometimes (*expletive*...always) we will have one eye on our hurt, our fears, bandaged parts and one sassy part blowing away the dead leaves, peering through the keyhole, Ever Ready at the doorway of the new.
That's the wink that is always NOW. Like ye goode, olde Yin and Yang, people. I don't make this stuff up! It's ancient!

Decor Tip: One of my favorite books as a child was called 'Sad Day, Glad Day,' about a little girl moving to another town and her conflicting emotions. I think children need these concepts of winking through life's conflicting emotional states. I think living experience and living with art resonates deeper than placating chit-chats...and I think this art beautifully conveys this essential philosophy.
So yes, decor:
Fab and adorable in a kid's room in a bright wood frame, the element of wood for 'growth' maybe painted two colors for 'fun.'
For an adult, elegantly framed in silvery metal, the element for 'cutting-through' would be sublime.
