Chicada Shaka Shaka
August. NYC. Heatwave.
I was just leaving Central Park, the chicada's song of late summer "CHIC, CHIC, CHIC, CHIC, CHIC" laid its beats resonating inside of me. As the wings of the insects sung for mates, their clicks fading as I moved away from nature, I looked up to see this CHICADA flying towards me!
Sun dappled. Little winging black dress cut high. Rolling with her gait in simple, simple black sneaks. Gold close cropped hair, smiling eyes, Beats headphones, global bag.
"T'ank Yew" she coo'd in accented English when I pointed to her outfit and said "I Like."
Chicada Shaka Shaka is one of those moments spotting a character who is wholly the spirit of New York City, sporting all the power of Earthy goodness, in rhythm with its song.
