Hawks steer their plumage in high arcs above us, watching everything. Seen in nature they are spectacular, seen soaring over the urban landscape, they are magic.

In fact, did you know that Mohawk Native Americans, known as 'Keepers of The Eastern Door' helped build the Empire State and the World Trade buildings because of their lack of fear around heights?

In the mountain peaks of Tibet, Buddhist monks of the Yellow Hat Order keep praying in their plumed hats while punks, goths, warriors, punks, rebels, and wannabes in cultures below wear the hair of free expression.

This illustration of a Mohawk boy-girl intriguer emerged about the time I became a Sister of The Shield, a ritual from the Iroquois lineage. I lived in the countryside of the eastern coast of America and discovered the magic of hawks and many other riches.

Out to pasture a little early in my life, I moved back to NYC when I was 40 years old, and my heart leaps when hawks appear in the skies above Gotham and ask me to look up and discover them.

This drawing is for that spirit in everyone.
